Learn to Spin Fleece into Wool

This course is designed to teach you the basics of spinning fleece into wool. There are four classes altogether and support is available once you have completd the classes. We recommened attending your classes weekly or fortnightly if possible.

First class: you will learnt about washing fleece, properties of fleece and how to choose fleece and fibre, and carding your fleece ready to spin. We will then move on to spinning with a spindle using the Park it method so you can learn to draw out your fleece and start turning it into wool.
Second class: recap on the previous class and any problems with spinning so far. Drop spinning using a spindle and plying.
Third class: transferring your spinning skills to the spinning wheel. We have a wheel for you to borrow so you can do your homework for this week.
Forth class: recap on the previous three classes. Refining your spinning technique, plying, and how to process your wool once it's spun.
We also run a 2 week class (week one and two above) for spindle spinning

All materials are included in this workshop along with a drop spindle. There will be homework!

We've been spinning at Beaker Button for 10 years and love passing on spinning skils to new people. There is nothing as satifying as taking a newly spun skein and turning it into something really special, either with weaving, knitting, crochet or simply twisting it up into a stunning fibre necklace!
